unWired Broadband Named Best Internet Service Provider & Best Customer Service in Central California

For an unprecedented third year in a row, unWired Broadband has been voted Best Internet Service Provider in The Fresno Bee’s Best of Central California awards. Additionally, unWired also received the Best Customer Service award, solidifying their commitment to exceptional service alongside their outstanding Internet solutions.

The awards were chosen by Central California residents throughout a three-week online voting period. The top three businesses in each category are awarded and unWired was honored with gold in both the Best Internet Service Provider and Best Customer Service categories. Since 2005, The Fresno Bee has been recognizing local businesses in this prestigious annual award.

unWired Broadband is an Internet provider that specializes in providing connectivity solutions to rural and underserved populations in Central California. “Our service is primarily designed to reach rural homes and business who have very limited choices when it comes to Internet service.” says Peter Sorensen, CEO of unWired Broadband. unWired meets the growing need of so many rural residents for a fast and reliable Internet connection.

Unlike other types of rural Internet options, unWired’s Internet service is delivered directly to a home or business from one of their local towers located less than 10 miles away. Using a small radio and antenna placed near a building or home, unWired technicians locate and align the antenna for optimal signal strength and connect it to routers.

No stranger to the region, unWired started in 2003 with a single tower site in Clovis, CA. Since their inception, they have experienced explosive growth and now cover 18,000 square miles with over 200 towers. Its fixed wireless Internet coverage area spans Central and Northern California from Red Bluff to the bottom of the Grapevine, south of Bakersfield.

They also have expanded their services to include a state-of-the-art data center facility in Fresno, CA and back-up Internet solutions, designed for in-town businesses in need of a secondary connection in case their primary Internet connection goes down. They also offer a mobile telecommunications hub which can be used for events or a temporary Internet connection in case of an emergency. This technology has been deployed for festivals, concerts and CAL FIRE base camps.

Expanding beyond fixed wireless Internet, unWired recently announced the launch of their NextGen Fiber network, which is currently being deployed in the city of Coalinga, CA. Construction will be completed in late October, with service becoming available in initial neighborhoods in June. They plan to begin construction on NextGen Fiber in two additional Central California cities before the end of 2024.

unWired’s employees call Central California home and are the driving force behind their award-winning customer service. Sorensen says, “Our employees are the lifeblood of our organization. Being recognized for Best Customer Service is a tremendous accomplishment that would not be possible without the dedication of our entire team.”

Lauded as a trusted connectivity partner to thousands of agricultural businesses, unWired is a strong supporter of local agriculture. Their entire fleet displays the My Job Depends on Ag sticker that has become so recognizable in Central California. They are also a sponsor of the ValleyPBS documentary series, American Grown: My Job Depends on Ag.

Being recognized by Central California residents is a major milestone for unWired. “We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our customers and supporters for their votes in this year’s Best of Central California,” Sorensen said. “It is a true honor to be recognized by our community and we look forward to living up to our title as Best of Central California every single day. These awards motivate us to keep surpassing expectations and remain the most trusted Internet provider in the region.”
