Construction Coordinator
Pay range: $31.25 – $35.57 / hour
unWired Broadband is searching for a hands-on and driven Construction Coordinator to join our Fiber to the Home team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager – FTTH, this position is responsible for overseeing the deployment of fiber optic networks to residential homes and businesses. This role involves managing project timelines, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring that construction activities are completed efficiently and in compliance with all relevant standards.
Essential Duties:
- • Coordinate with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Turnkey Vendor) to ensure
safety standards and rules are followed, including traffic control, proper labeling of vehicles and
Project Boundary markers are placed according to unWired standards. - • Ensure preconstruction door hanging protocols are adhered to.
- • Coordinate with EPC in-house teams to ensure construction standards are met, including
compliance with all governing jurisdictions, 811 requirements, and restoration standards. - • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor project timelines, progress and quality of work.
- • Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during construction, acting as a liaison between
unWired teams, construction contract teams, and future customers. - • Assist in managing the drop installation queue and address customer concerns proactively to
ensure a positive customer experience. - • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all mapping information by verifying and updating the Vetro
GIS records system. - • Coordinate construction in the MDU (apartments/multi-dwelling units) program between
contractors, in-house teams, and property management to meet projected completion dates. - • Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- • High School Diploma, or equivalent language and mathematical skills.
- • 3 years of experience with FTTH infrastructure, including new outside and inside plant (OSP/ISP)
fiber infrastructure. - • Experience in FTTH field work with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise
during construction. - • Ability to read and understand FTTH construction drawings including translating assets on the
ground to GIS maps. - • Experience managing and coordinating fiber optic projects from pre-construction to activation.
- • Strong knowledge of pole permit applications and working with pole owners during construction
to As-Built submission. - • Proficiency in creating and reviewing engineering designs, with knowledge of fiber splicing,
enclosures, and network design. - • Computer skills, including MS Office, Visio, AutoCAD, GIS drafting programs like ArcGIS, Vetro, or
Google Earth equivalent. - • Problem Solving: identifies and resolves problems timely; gathers and analyzes information
effectively; develops alternative solutions; uses reason when dealing with emotional topics. - • Communication Skills: speaks and writes clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations with various stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and local authorities; responds well to questions, presents effectively in group meetings or settings, ability to read and interpret written information.
- • Must have a clean DMV record and the ability to travel as necessary.
